페인트 칠이 말라버려서 갈라지긴 했지만 그 옛집은 아직 그대로 있고
내가 올라가 놀곤 했던 참나무도 있어
오솔길을 따라 메리를 바래다 주기도 했어
금발에 체리 같은 입술을 가진 메리를...
고향의 푸른 잔디를 만져보니 말로 형언하기가 힘들구나

Tom Jones(톰 존스) 영국 웨일스 출생으로 1965년에 [It’s Not Unusual]이 히트하고 그 이후에 [Once Upon A Time], [Green Green Grass of Home], [I’ll Never Fall in Love Again], [I’am Coming Home], [Delilah], [Help Yourself], [Close Up], [Body and Soul]등이 히트하여 유명해졌다.
또 텔레비전쇼 [Beat Room], [Top Gear], [Sunday Night at the London Palladium]등으로도 인기를 모았다. 1965년 미국을 순회공연, 코파카바나, 뉴욕 등의 [Ed Sullivan show]에 출연하고, 1969년에는 영국과 미국에서 버라이어티쇼 [This is Tom Jones]에도 출연하였다.
1967년과 1968년에는 [Melody Maker]에 의하여 영국의 가장 인기 있는 남성 가수로 선정되었고 또 1976년에는 영화 [Yockwald]에도 출연하였다.
2006년 3월에는 기사 작위를 받기도 했다.
